Preliminary investigation
Is an HOA’s solution appropriate and useful.
Preliminary examination for HOAs :
During a preliminary examination, your eyes are measured and checked to determine whether correction with Ovitz HOA technology is a wise option for you.
Using a pre-segment eye scan and an aberrometer, eye data are mapped. An eye profiler is used to determine all values, dimensions and irregularities of the cornea and sclera (the white part of the eye).
With all this data combined, I can give you a sound recommendation to consider correction of high-order aberrations.
The preliminary examination takes about 1 hour, after which a final correction can be performed.
Fitting procedure
Fitting scleral lenses from A to Z
The fitting of HOAs corrected scleral lenses.
The final values of HOAs are applied to a special contact lens, namely a scleral lens. This is a large form-stable contact lens that rests on the white part of the eye, the sclera.
It is a particularly comfortable lens, which you hardly feel in the eye. No dust or dirt can get under it and the lens can be tolerated perfectly well for a whole day, even with very dry eyes.
In addition to its comfort properties, a scleral lens sits virtually motionless and always in the same position on the eye. The ideal starting point for resolving HOAs.
But fitting these lenses is precision work. Once all dimensions, irregularities, etc. of the eye surface and of the sclera 360 degrees have been determined, a scleral lens is made that is as close as possible to the prescription and hopefully 100% to the fit of your eye.
You will wear this lens for 1-2 days or slightly longer. With the lens in, any residual and/or fit adjustment is determined.
A next lens is made, this is a special lens because it has been corrected with the latest changes in strength and/or fit but also features a series of engravings where eventually the exact position of the lens relative to the pupil opening of the eye is visible.
While you have this lens in your eye, aberrometry is performed so that the position and HOAs to be corrected are accurately determined.
With these values, the final lens including the ‘Ovitz HOA technology’ is made.

What can you expect from these HOA corrections?
No doubt you have been oriented to outcomes, results and experiences with the Ovitz HOAs correction. My experience, as an adjuster of these lenses, makes me enthusiastic about the results, although I can see that for some people not all problems are solved. My advice, assume a 70% improvement when deciding whether this could be an option for you.

Length of procedure and delivery times:
- Delivery after the first fitting takes about 10-14 working days.
- Then the lens has to be worn for several days and with this lens in, the next value and is determined and the next lens ordered duration about 10-14 working days.
- This lens is worn for 1-2 days and with this lens in, the final lens is determined and ordered: duration approximately 10-14 working days.
- This lens can possibly be shipped to your home address, after which a check-up follows at 1-2 weeks.
